Engine Performance problem
1993 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My car was dying at every stop sign. I found that a small hose (I think connected to the manifold) was completely clogged. I bought a new hose and it seemed to work fine for 2 days and now my car idle is very rough and when I turn on the air conditioner or the heater it will stall. Someone sugessted I replace the pcv valve but when I went to the auto parts store they said my car does not have one. They gave me some intake/throttle cleaner spray and it worked for that day but not any longer.

Remove and clean the Idle Air Control valve and the throttle body where it connects.

If you put the car in diagnostic mode (short terminals A and B of the ALDL) with the IAC installed, you should hear the IAC "humming", if not the IAC is bad.
DO NOT STORT THE A&B TERMINALS WITH THE IAC REMOVED.

I just wanted to say thank you for the help. I cleaned the AIC as you suggested and I haven't had a problem since.
