I was driving down the dirt road the other day and the car shut off and went into limp mode. I turned it back on and the airbag and horn quit working simultaneously, also the engine was running hard. But if I let the car sit for an hour or so I can’t turn it on and drive a few miles before it starts doing it again. Also, the warning display said service traction control and service airbag. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

There could be many reasons for something like this, but it seems it may be related to the roughness of the road you were driving on. Do you have a scan tool to check for trouble codes? If not, any auto parts store will scan the codes for free.

Check out this link for scanning the system:

Outside of scanning the system, taking a look at the engine bay area will be necessary. Check for any signs of rubbed or broken wires going to important parts like the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, Oxygen sensors, IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve, or any vacuum tubing going to/from the EGR system or to/from the engine and intake manifold.

Let us know what you find,

William
