Problems with lighting system
headlights do not come up when lights are turned on.I have 12 volts DC to both motor quick disconnects so I replaced both motors with remanufactured motors but they still dont operate.
I dont have service manual for car. I would think these motors are reversible and switch reverses polarity to raise and lower but I am not sure. I checked fuses and relays I think are involved with the lighting system but they are poorly labeled.
I am unable to trace the harness back very far to find possible wiring problem or short. I am thinking the headlight switch is bad or a fuse or relay I am missing.
Also passenger turnsignal has problem with burning up bulbs. The turn signals on this car are a double element and when car is running with lights off both elements are lighted. This seems unsual to me but apparently this is how GM made lighting. Would like to rewire to keep these off and just use as turn signals.

Hi bigdoug,

Thank you for the donation.

Here are the description and diagnostic procedures for the headlight doors.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Check headlight door fuses No. 3 (15-amp) and No. 4 (15-amp) in underhood electrical center. Check door linkage for mechanical binding before performing electrical tests, as high torque load may cause headlight door motors to stop operating before reaching end of travel.
