I just bought a 1991 Firebird and I was driving it when it just suddenlly stopped running, it did not sputter like it was out of gas just quit. It took me a little time but it started back up, then as I was going down the highway at about 70 the car turned off again and when I got to the side of the road and put it in netrual it started right back up.

It seemed to be having issues going above 70 it seemed like something was stopping the car from going faster.

When was the last time you performed a tune-up? This could be either ignition or fuel related.

I suggest you begin by thoroughly checking your ignition system, beginning with the spark plugs.

Pull each plug one at a time and examine the tips. Use a service manual or another on-line source to compare the color of your plugs. Then check wires, distributor cap/rotors and your ignition module. (If you need procedures let me know)

Then move to the fuel system, beginning with fuel pressure. Compare to spec with key on/engine off, and at idle, part throttle and full throttle. This will give you the general health of your fuel pump, filter and regulator. Then check your injectors, preferably using a drop/balance test.
