1985 Pontiac Firebird Starting

Guys
When I turn the key to the on position everything comes on, but I try to start the engine nothing happens.
Also the lights on the radio go off.
I've had this problem before but, it usually remedies itself if I turn the key to the start position a few times. It would catch and start.
Now I get nothing.
