2002 Pontiac Bonneville dumb blonde knows nothing about car

I've taken it to autozone to have the check engine light codes for it it comes up gas tank lid i've bought 2 of them or a faulty fuel line or emissions line I know nothing about cars it just cuts out while i'm driving i've only had the car a few months it acts like its not getting any power right before it cuts out then it starts back up sometimes after a few mins. Please any help

First, there is no specifc code for a fuel cap. There is an EVAP code that can indicate there is a leak in the system. As a result, the store keeps selling you gas caps because they don't know what else to tell you. I need to know what the actual code is they are getting.

If the light is on again, have them scan it and tell you the code number.
