I was driving when I heard a "pop" sound come from somewhere in my car. Next, the oil light came on, gauges "died," and then the engine quit. There was no oil leak or smell of any kind. I was able to coast to a stop, open the hood, and found a hose starring at me like a snake. It was "connected" to the engine on one end but nothing on the other. I am wondering if maybe it is suppose to attach to the air filter? It looks as if the hose "broke" but I don't know where it belongs. The hose is also not "connected" to the "engine." It just "rests" on the opening. Can you help?

There is a hose, about 1 inch in diameter that goes from the valve cover (like an upside-down metal trough on the top front area of the engine) to the air filter housing. My guess, however, is that its coming loose is the least of your worries.
