Noises problem
1998 Plymouth Voyager 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 90.280 miles

I had a serphaine belt put on my 1998 Plymouth Voyager because I heard a whinning noise when driving. The very next day, the same noise came back, and my "check engine light" came on. I did not have the air on. The next day I took my car back to the repair shop and was told that my problem is that my compressor on my air conditioner need replacement and as long as I do not have the air on, the whinniny sound would stop and the "check engine light" would not come on.
Today I got in my van, started it and the whinniny noise started again and a block away, the "check engine light" came on again.
Can you explain what is happening? I did not have the problem with the check engine lighe coming on and the whinniny noise is louder than it was before I took my van to the shop.

Hello,

Here is something to try.....

In the pic below look at the posion of the Idler Pulley. Find it on your vehicle, carry a can of spray lube (WD40 or similar) before starting spray the center bolt, start the vehicle. Is noise still there? No have pulley replaced. The noise will come back once lube has worn off. If they insist that the pulley is not the problem take it to someone else.

Also go by your local AutoZone and have them pull codes. Post them here in the forum.
