I have a 2001 Plymouth Neon. The check engine light just came on and stayed on for the first time ever. Took the car to Auto Zone to have them hook it to their diagnostic tester and get me a trouble code. The print out showewd code P4056 - which could be:

1. Defective, loose, or missing fuel cap
2. EVAP canister broken, hose cracked or not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4. Vacuum leak at engine

I checked my fuel cap and sure enought. It was loose. How long afterwards should it take for the light to go out? Does pressure have to build back in the fuel line? The Auto Zone guy said it could take up to 30 starts of my engine.

Is this correct?

Hello,

Yes, it could take 30 starts or more. Depending on the scanner auto zone uses they should be able to clear the codes for you.
