My 1997 plymouth neon suddenly decided to NOT work. Here's deal everything was just fine. Started fine. Lights, air, heat the whole shabang just fine. I was driving up hill accelerating and all of a sudden the car just stopped! No idle, no warning it just stopped. Well I thought "Oh I've run out of gas." Nope, I had 3 quarters of a tank. Because at times the gas, mileage and radiater guage doesn't work. WEll, turned the key back over it cranks but doesn't start. I had 3 quarters of a tank in it! Well then I just kept on trying to turn it over, nothing. I went and got a coil. Didn't help. Went and got a crankshaft sensor. Iddn't work. I checked all of my fuses. Didn't work. I checked the ones in the dashboard and the ones under the hood. All the wiring is good and bound perfectly. So what now? I've done everything but replace the computer. My neighbor says "It's not getting any fire" Whatever that means..
I'm so desperate. I have only this car and I work EVERY day. And go to school. I have weekly doctors visits I must attend right now. I can't live w/out my car. What can I do?

I'll send you a couple of videos to watch that will show you how to check your fuel pressure and spark(fire).

Well I love that you sent me the videos. That is so super sweet of you! I have tested both of those things. Well actually my neighbor did. He's used to "old fashioned cars" he says. So he did all of those things and we still get nothing. Do you think it could be my computer?

Lets not suspect the computer just yet, you say your not getting fuel or spark? If this is the case then your fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator is bad

We checked out the fuel pump and the pressure regulator. Eddie has some crazy short cut redneck way about everything. He's experienced so I trust him. He used to work on big machines back in the day before he retired. I can smell gas when I pump it and try to start it. Everything "sounds" good when I turn the key it just won't start. Maybe this will help: I was driving it, accelerating when it just stopped. It didn't sputter, no noise, no warning. Just - stopped. I am sorry to be so confusing. I am just so stresed out and worried. I'm terrified to take the rsik of buying the computer and it not fixing the problem. I've only had this car a month. Everything is fine in it. Everything. But just something is not right. Is there some way a place can test my computer and tell me if it's working? I've been reading some people are saying something about their wire harness melting together? What do you think? I'd do anything to fix it. I JUST got it. : ( Oh lawd.

Well if there is a autozone by your home they test it for free, usually any local parts place will do a free scan of the computer, I hope your timing belt didn't slip that will throw the timing off and youll never start it.. After all this is a 97 and probably never had a timing belt done on it
