I replaced my fuel pump after I was done I tried starting it it started but for only a few seconds then died it done that five or six times. Every time it would only run a few seconds. I have tested everything the pump is pumping all that, but now it wont do anything, all the lights gauges everything works, but my engine will not even turn over. Now I have told several different things I have reset the computer everything I listened to this guy he told me the security system is on so he told me to lock all doors wait a few minutes manually unlock driver side door put key in it should start. I did that and my alarm started going off I tried hitting the button on my key they are not working. I put key in the ignition still nothing. The only way I good get it to stop is disconnect the battery a few hours later went and tried again soon as I hooked up the battery alarm starts again. So now I am stuck with it not even turning over to start. Now I got an alarm that constantly goes off if the battery is hooked up and it ran just fine until fuel pump went out. I got a new one installed it I tested the pump to make sure it pumping gas shot out of it. So now it only wont turn over to start. The alarm is going off it started five or so times after I installed the new pump, but only for a short few seconds. Please help me this is my family's only vehicle.

Hello,

I just called the dealer for you and they said to disconnect the battery for thirty seconds and reconnect it and that will reset the alarm.

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Best, Ken

Why did you replace the fuel pump? Was that before or after it wouldn't start? Did you check for spark?

If you hear one loud clunk from the starter, but it doesn't crank the engine, suspect worn solenoid contacts. They can be replaced separately, but most people just replace the entire starter.

3 Weeks ago, I had problems starting the vehicle but was able to jump to start. I replaced the battery and have had no issues. Yesterday, the truck failed to start. All accessories are operational but there is a rapid clicking when trying to start it. The truck will not start. I suspect a starter but being that I have limited automotive experience and finances, I wanted to narrow it down further.

It sounds like the new battery has lost charge. When the battery is weak, the starter will click as you described. Check the battery first. You could have a bad alternator or an electrial draw. Also, make sure all terminals are clean and tight on the battery and the ground on the engine block.

Let me know what you find.

Hi,
when turning the key, I get a clicking sound and all my lights work along the dash as well as the power windows. But the only way to start is by jumping.
I have a mulit meter and know how to check the battery, but I don't know what to connect to check alternator. I have a feeling it's between the alternator and the starter.

What should I do?
Thanks for the help,
rita

Check fuses no.16 10amp and fuse no.130amp. If okay do below

Get a helper to hold key at start position find starter and bang on it-if it kicks over-replace the starter. If not backtrack it to the starter relay and ignition switch. See below

When the Check Engine light is on it means a diagnostic fault code has been stored in the Engine Computer. There are now hundreds of possible codes. Your mechanic will connect a hand-held computer called a scanner to read those codes. They are the starting point in the diagnosis. Fault codes will lead you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part.

I would pull the plugs and attempt to rotate the engine again, if not moving it well may be seized, have you had any oil or coolant problems prior to this problem?

This will make it easier to turn engine, but if access is a problem don't worry about pulling all just the ones that are easy to get to, if you can get to the ring gear via an access plate or the starter motor and use a suitable lever to see if the engine can rotate by levering the ring gear this will do as well, just need to know if the engine will turn easly pulling the plugs and having no compression to fight against will mane this a bit easier yo achieve that's all.
