You "got to a point" but you didn't say what that point is. I can't guess either because this is a much bigger job than the average do-it-yourselfer is expected to tackle. You need special equipment to recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system, and then to recharge it. What you need is a copy of the manufacturer's service manual so you can read through to pages of instructions with line drawings. You can also go to the top of this page, point to "Repair and Service", then click on "Manuals. That will take you to a site where you can buy a subscription for your car. That will include everything that's in the Honda manual plus service bulletins and tips.

Could I also use the tab where it says repair and service and click on how to replace your heater core?

Where did you see that? If you can find a video, that will be better than line drawings and words in a manual, but you'll likely only find a generic video not specific to a certain car model, or at least not for your model. What it WILL do is help you decide if you want to keep going.

Be aware that working with refrigerant is very dangerous. It can cause blindness and frost bite. Professionals wear safety glasses, gloves, AND a face shield.
