So a few days ago I had a check engine light come on in my car and the code was P0301. I was told to do a fuel system cleaner or fuel injector cleaner so I did that. Yesterday the light came back on briefly and then disappeared again there has been a sputter in the idle occasionally. So last night I change the spark plugs and now it’s running ten times worse. Any ideas of what to do from here? Or what did I do wrong yesterday?

Hello

P0301 is an Automotive of Service Excellence (ASE) or "generic" Direct Trouble Code (DTC) for a misfire in cylinder #1. It can be caused by many things. In the diagrams down below I have included a inspection guide from the vehicle manufacturer for DTC P0301. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
