- While driving, the interior car heat goes on and off.
- The temperature gauge goes up and down.
- As soon as the interior car heat comes back up, the radiator temperature gauge goes down.
- The overheating problem is mostly when idling.
Last year (twelve months ago), the same-same problem occurred and I changed the thermostat and it never did this problem again, until now.
- Now today, I changed the thermostat and still happening.
- Would there be a bubble of air, inside the system, preventing circulation or something else?
- Could I have put the thermostat incorrectly? Or upside down?
- if I put CLR calcium deposit remover in the radiator, would that maybe help circulation or damage metal integrity?

Good afternoon my name is Roy and I will assist.

Yes, it may have an air block.

Possible causes:

1. Low coolant level
2. Air in system
3. Bad thermostat
4. Restriction in the system

How long has it been since you replaced the thermostat?

Roy

The same day as I posted my question.
Today, I added CLR to dilute possible calcium deposit, in the radiator, that might obstruct coolant flow.
I will have a drive today to see if it has improved temperature gauge readings. I also added Teflon oils, into the pan, to protect my engine in case of overheating.

Never use any additives in any systems. They contain all the needed protective's already.

The oil additive will not protect the engine at all. When you have a head gasket failure, the coolant in the oil attacks the babbitt material in the main and rod bearings. There is no product to prevent that.
