My van is overheating, I had a bad hose from radiator to the engine. I replaced it as well as the thermostat. I’m still losing coolant though, except I can’t find any leaks. Also when I press the gas it seems to get hotter, and when I let off gas it seems to start to cool down. Heater, A/C and fans seem to be working. I do believe my power steering pump is bad, but I’m not sure if that would be the issue. Any advice on what to do next?

Hi,

Does it only happen when in stop-and-go traffic or does it also happen at highway speeds? If only in stop-and-go traffic, have you noticed if the cooling fans are turning on?

If it happens at highway speed as well, the coolant is full, and there are no obstructions in front of the radiator, we need to check for a head gasket related issue.

Take a look through this link. It explains how to check for a gasket issue.

Let me know if any of the symptoms indicated in the link are present. Also, let me know if there are specific things that cause it to overheat.

Take care,

Joe
