My car is running I went to autozone and put some antifreeze in it ran for awhile when it sit for awhile it start up I drove it home because it start knocking not very bad I was afraid to drive it anymore but when we look under the hood water was splash out but couldn't see Wher it was coming from

You could have already done serious internal engine damage by driving it with a cooling problem. You need to have the system pressure tested to locate and repair the leak.

It's a hand pump that connects to the radiator. Some auto parts stores will loan or rent them.

Do the car need to be running when Itest it with the pump do I put more antifreeze or water before starting the car

It needs to be full of coolant but the engine won't be running.
