Need help! My 4Runner keeps overheating. I have a new clutch fan, water pump and belts, New T-stat, new radiator. New radiator cap. Most of my hoses are newer. New Transmission. Doesn't have any of the symptoms of a bad head. Only really seems to overheat when accelerating. Once I get to speed or I'm at idle long enough it cools back down. What could cause this?

Check for blocked cooling fins in the radiator or rubbish built up between the air conditioner condenser and radiator, also blocked fins on condenser as it sounds like an air flow problem through the radiator.

Would a transmission cooler be a good investment to help reduce heat ups?

A remote transmission cooler will help a little, but you must be aware of blocking air flow through the condenser and the radiator.
