My Friends car has a 2.5 engine is overheating. We checked all fuses and they are We could not find the cooling fan relays. I also read that you can check the fan by touching together the wires from the temperature sensor. What could be the problem? Please help me. Thank you, Edwin L Sr.

Sorry to bother you once again. I Know it is late but if you want you can contact me on my email sometime in the morning, but anyways my friend wants to buy a new fan for the car so that will be done after checking out the information about the relay that I just read in the steps. If not then I will do temperature sensor test other than your answer for the problem. Thanks again, E.L Sr.

Are both radiator hoses upper and lower getting too hot to touch when the engine warms up? Also, if you had a cheap code reader that read some live engine data you could see what the coolant temp sensor read versus actual temperature. But you would need a infrared temperature gun to measure the actual temperature versus what the code reader said. Did the AC work? You could turn that on and see if the fans come on.

We are going to check the relay first this morning. Yes, both radiator hoses were hot and yes we put the AC on while the engine was running and it did not come on.

Today we checked the relay were good we did change the temperature sensor switch and checked the wiring that goes to the fan and they looked okay, but the fan is not coming on and it went to the Hot and did not come on. I do not know what can be the problem. Any other options?

We added antifreeze up to the and the top hose got hard and the bottom hose also was hard and after a while it started to overheat bubbling sound was coming from the reservoir then started to leak out the antifreeze. I think that it might need a new fan. I cannot solve this problem do not know what can it be.

Also, does the AC work? If so turn it on and when the AC is on for a little while the radiator fan should come. You can try taping on the fan motor sometimes that will get them going if there bad. Do you have a multimeter to do some testing?

Yes Sir, the fan spins freely and I have not tried the AC on while the engine is running. No I did miss on those two tips tapping on the fan motor, or with the AC on while engine is running. A mechanic from the Chevrolet Dealer told my friend that it could be the fan period. Sorry for not contacting you guys earlier the car had other things to be worked on besides the fan, but I will try those tips tomorrow morning. Thanks again for your time. Have a blessed night and God bless you always.

Yes, like I said we put in a new temperature sensor switch and checked out all the
wires, plus we also checked out the relays and filled up with fresh
antifreeze to the level. Drove around until it started to overheat
bubbling sound was coming from the reservoir then started to leak out the
antifreeze and the fan did not come on. It still has the same problem. I
really cannot figure this out. Any other options that I check or do? Thank
you for your time. Please help me with this problem. Thanks again, Edwin
L, Sr.

Yes Sir, I did miss on those two tips tapping on the fan motor with the engine running and with the AC on while engine is running. But I will check this out tomorrow morning. Thanks again for responding to my problem. I Told my friend that when he goes out to buy another car to let me know because there are very bad people who wants to rip anyone off for money. And also to stop buying those junk car he is young and all they want to do is pimp on the cars just because they have a nice body type, but in reality they do not see what the hell is going on with the car. So yes I took a year and a half of mechanics training and graduate and I do not have a shop, but I do love to work on cars out on the street as a street mechanic and yes I do get stuck on some things like this situation now. I am not to good with electrical and I think that is what this car has. Trust me I can sense it, then again I might be wrong, okay P/S Edwin L Sr.

No problem has been solved yet still overheating. No Luck
