Driving down highway and coolant shot out probably thru the reservoir cap. Runs about four or five minutes then spikes. Had thermostat changed no help. Mechanic says it looks like coolant circulating. Water pump looks good. No water in the oil or white smoke. How to diagnoses?

I would get the radiator out and get it core cleaned, you may have a number of blocked core tubes affecting circulation, do this first.

Not to butt in, but I would check to make sure that the cooling fan is coming before spending the time and money on getting the radiator cleaned. If the fan is not coming on, then you are probably just needing a coolant temperature sensor. I would also make sure that the air flow through the radiator was not blocked off with mud and road junk.

Found the issue. The 1st mechanic I took it to was wrong about the water pump. It was a water pump issue.

Thanks for all the reply's :)
