My car runs at normal temperature while idling but as soon as you up the revs with the gas pedal it starts to rise and when you lay off the gas it drops to normal again. The belt on the side squeals until I pour some water on it and it stops squealing but when you put the gas on it squeals more. Why is it running normal at idle and overheating when the revs are up?

Good morning.

First, the squealing may be from either a loose belt or worn out belt.

Make sure the coolant level is correct in the radiator. If it is good, it has a circulation issue. The radiator may be clogged not allowing enough coolant to circulate through the system. If the coolant is dirty, debris may be clogging the cores.

A power flush would be the answer for the clogged radiator.
