Olds Silhouette Brake system

I have an 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette with aprox 160k on the clock. I recently replaced the brake pads and shoes and decided to bleed some new fluid into the system. At one point we got the master cylinder too low on fluid and now the dash panel brake light stays on all the time. Brakes have real good feel and high pedal now but the light is annoying and besides that, indicating somthing is still not right.

How do I re-bleed the system correctly to get rid of the light? Their must be air trapped master cylinder still.

By the way, I had no brake light before replacing the shoes and pads.

thanks for your help

Hi there,

Some brake master cylinders have a brake failure switch that come on when pressure drops due to no brake fluid. It is normally on the side or under side of the master cyl and often has only one wire. Take this switch out and pump the brakes a few times, no fluid should come out. This re sets the piston that activates the switch and the light should go out.
