HI I just got a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. 4door 3100 engine. Ok went to my Pontiac dealer that i've delt with for years had the oil changed figured that would be the best thing to do. Hmm. I was wrong I guess. According to my owners manual my engine takes Ac delco PF 47 oil filter which has gm part number 25010792. Ok look at my reciept there is no part number listed yet I have an oil filter that looks bigger than the PF47. How come? I compared the sizes and it looks like he put the PF52 oil filter on it. Why? Did some 1994's have 1993 engine's left in them? I took the car back and he claims that that is the PF 47 because no other oil filter will fit it. The label is facing down towards the street so I can't see it. Any help would be appreciated i'm stumped.

Also a napa pro-select 21040 or a fram ph3387a are the other interchanges. But no matter.

There is a deeper filter that does hold more capacity, not sure the number off hand but may be a better situation as you have a larger capacity for filtration. I'm far from an engineer, but have seen this done in the past.

Thanks!

I have another question though. Would putting on the wrong filter cause you to get low oil pressure?

I'm not sure, but wouldn't think so. Personally I stay with the filter listed to make my life easier.
