i was driving the car the other day and the 'service engine soon' light came on. while i was driving home it all the sudden stoped and all the warning lights came on and the brakes froze up and the gas wouldnt work. i shifted it into park and put my hazzard lights on, and when i shifted it it made a grinding noise and then lurched to a stop. i tried starting it after that and the first time i did it made the grinding noise and started, but the second time i started it it started fine. could it be something wrong with my transmission?

You shifted into park while car was still moving? If so yes some transmission damage is likely. Also you still need to address the stalling and check engine light.

the car was basically at a standstill. i have had the brakes freeze up before though and someone mentioned something about the vacuum. i do know that the car's master cylinder is leaking though. could the stalling also be caused by the car needing its oil changed?
