Transmission problem
1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Our gear shift is getting stuck. Before we can put it into gear we have to use a tool to push the piece that is stuck down. It has only been doing it for about 3 weeks, and not all the time. We just want to know what we can do before it gets any worse. Can you please let us know. Thank you.

The piece that is getting stuck is a flat metal piece that is located by the spring next to the gear shift underneath the console. The flat piece is a horizontal piece that fits into another metal piece on the right side of it. If this does not help I will try to get a picture of it to send to you.
