Shift lever park lockout?

1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Front Wheel Drive Automatic 167000 miles

the button on the shifter that you push in with your thumb to allow you to shift the car out of park gets stuck sometimes so you can't get the car out of park. Once you are able to shift the transmission works fine.

Get the shift interlock system check, could be the shift interlock solenoid acting up.

There is a shift lockout solenoid mechanism that happens when the push the button down that is not adjusted correctly or is worn out. You will need to remove the shifter bezel to inspect. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
