Computer problem
1997 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently had my car repaired at an automotive repair shop for the above code. They replaced the sensor, computer, and fuel pump but were unable to clear the code aftechecking over all possibilities. Should I take the car to a gm dealer?

Hi there,

if they are unable to clear the codes, you should get that done at a dealer or a general shop with that equipment.

Actually, the sensor in the rear head only does the initial sensing. The Ignition control module (holds the coils) is the culprit. I replaced mine after replacing the sensor first, then after replacing the ICM, it went away and runs great. Unfortunatly, the ICM is roughly 500-700 dollars. I bought a used one off ebay for $50 and it even came with a warranty. Good luck!
