2003 Oldsmobile Alero Ignition Frozen in "OFF" Po

2003 Oldsmobile Alero

I went out to start my father's 2003 Oldsmobile Alero and I was having problems. I was using the correct key. It wouldn't switch from the "OFF" position. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, how were you able to successfully fix it?

It is possible that the steering wheel column is resting on the igntion, so to speak. Pull the steering wheel to one side or the other and try turning it again. It is a common issue among all makes and models called park lock.
