Okay so this morning my husbands car wouldn't start, it powered up but just clicked when I turned it over. I have changed out a starter before and figured this was the problem. I went to take the starter off but having never worked on this car before I couldn't figure how to get it fully off, so I reattached the wires and battery and nuts etc. I figured hell I'd give it a try and it started. Sadly its starting very hard and the battery light is on now, anyone have any ideas? Still starter but its a charge problem thats sucking the battery?

If the battery light is on, that indicates that it's not recharging the battery so that is what has to be tested first. If you have a battery charger, give it a manual recharge and that should make it start on it's own for a while.

Okay, I see what your saying there but I guess my question is, is it now the battery when the battery light wasn't on before I messed with the starter? I'm just wondering if now the starter is draining power from the battery since its not holding its own charge?

Check and make sure you have put all the wires back on the starter because one of them is the fusible link for the alternator output.
