My 3800 V6 is missing on 2 cylinders/plug wires. I get no spark from the "top" two contacts on the electronic "distributor". How can I determine if this can be rectified by replacement of the upper part i.E. Ignition coil(s) or if it could be related to the ignition module itself that the coil screws onto?
Is there a probability that this could the ignition coil which is a much cheaper part($30-50), or should I opt to pay for an engine analysis and much more $$?

Try swapping that coil for another one and see if it then has spark. If so the coil is bad, if not it is most likely the module. If that modle has theone big coil, you wont be able to swap them around, in that case it would most likely be the coil, the cyl's that share one coil are opposing in the firing order, it is unlikely it would be a sensor or module issue
