Welcome back. What is the gauge that is reading high, the oil pressure or oil temperature? What is the reading?
I ask because most Fords of that vintage don't have an actual oil pressure gauge. Ford had complaints about the oil pressure rising and falling with engine rpm. To correct this "problem" Ford simply added a resistor in the circuit that just put the needle somewhere in the normal range of the gauge. The easy way to tell if you have a real pressure gauge is to simply watch it when you step on the gas. If the gauge changes as the engine rpm's change it has a gauge. If you start the engine and the gauge jumps up to a set point and just stays there, it has a simple switch and resistor. In the fake gauge units the only thing that could cause it to read high would be a failing stepper motor. In that case, as long as it still reads I wouldn't bother.
Now if it's a real gauge a high reading would likely be a failing sender unit or stepper motor.
If the gauge is an oil temperature gauge that is reading high, I would check that the oil is clean and the correct weight. Then look at the water temperature gauge, is it reading higher than normal as well? Usually they follow each other as the engine temperature changes.
