Oil consumption

My sister's Toyota IST which is consuming engine oil but cant see any leaks. What could be the problem?

Hey ACHIRI,

If there are no external leaks then the engine may be burning the oil.
You will have to make sure there are no external leaks first.

Burning engine oil internally can happen for a couple of reasons including worn valve guides/seals and piston rings.

Before assuming you have an internal engine issue you will need to track your consumption.

On level ground with the engine cold check and top up the engine oil to max.

Reset your trip and drive the vehicle, keep an eye on the engine oil level.

When you top up the engine oil note down the amount of mileage you did and the amount of oil.

There is a normal amount of oil consumption, let us know what you have and we can tell you if it is excessive or not.

Thanks for the reply. Will do that and let you know. But what I know as of now between services of 5,000 kms it will finish whole oil in the sump. Have to add always between services.
