Swapped out engine, transmission, electronics, etc, from a 2009 Cobalt into a 2007. It will not start. Tried the relearning key, still nothing any suggestions.

Hello,

Did you switch the vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM), and if you did, did you have the ignition keys that came along with the new PCM?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again,

Okay, so when you turn the ignition key what happens? Does the vehicle crank but not start, make a sound like a machine gun, click, or do nothing at all?

Thanks,
Alex

It does nothing at all, the only dash light that comes on is the security light but it goes right out. All the lights work the door chime all that, but the engine does nothing.

Hello again,

Okay, check the wires going from the battery to the starter and ensure that they are installed correctly. I have included a wiring diagram of your vehicle's starting system. Please use this wiring diagram to find the open in the starting circuit. I have included instructions on how to find an open in an electrical circuit as well. Please get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again,

A link error usually indicates a Connector Area Network (CAN) problem. In the diagrams down below I have included the factory diagnostic troubleshooting guide for your vehicle for the Data Link Connector. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, so we finally got it to start but only with a jump wire. The ignition seems to be only in accessory mode and the fuel pump isn’t turning on.

Okay, finally got it, we had to use the outside fuse box from the 07. Apparently something happened to the one for the 09 in transition.
