About six years ago or so I swapped the battery post on my car it has a turbo (non 2+2 if it matters). I have replace a fusible link, spark plug, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. When I got to the ignition coil I enlisted help of more car savvy people which in turn tell me that the ignition coil which I was attempting to replace was not the issue. So I have with help narrowed it down to two things; 1. The bracket that holds the ignition coil has a condenser or resistor attached to it which is making the coil not work or 2. The ECU is bad from the original battery swapped post issue. Both parts cost about the same to get a replacement, $250.00. Is there a way the test either of them before I go spending that chunk of change on one that is not bad? Or do you have another idea of what could be wrong.
A side note some one on another forum asked if the fuel pump was still working, which it is not and has a broken power connector. I have a new pump but have not gotten it in yet. Is the computer smart enough to know there is a fuel issue so it wont send the spark?
