Welcome to 2CarPros.

Does the engine rev like it is still in neutral? Does the check engine light stay on while the engine is running? Have you checked transmission fluid to make sure it is clean and full?

First, if the check engine light stays on when the engine is running, you really should have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. That will help point us in the right directions for the needed repairs. Here is a quick video showing how this process works:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but often times, a parts store will do it for you or lend you a scanner. It's important to do this if the check engine light is on.

Next, if the engine revs like the transmission is in neutral or park, you really need to check the transmission fluid to make sure it is clean and full.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
