Sounds like you have a couple of different issues. Just to be sure we are on the same page; the engine doesn't start when you try to start it but if you jump the relay, it will start and run until it gets hot?
If this is the case, then we need to start with the starting issue and then tackle the other if it still acts up and was not related to the starting issue.

So, if you are jumping the relay and the starter works, we need to check for power on pin D13 and D10. Then we need to check for ground on the D11. You check for ground by putting your meter on battery positive and then the other lead on D11 and turn the key. You should have 12 volts. If you do, then the ground is good.

If not, then we have an issue most likely with the range switch or the ground.
