1989 Nissan d21 Pickup 6 cyl. 4WD 5 speed

This vehicle will not turn over the battery is good it has a new starter and a new starter relay, when u try to start it all u hear is a clicking noise !But if you pop the clutch its starts every time and runs perfect ! Can u help me !I also changed the ignition switch ! Also the batterys ground wire is kind of corroted could tha be the main cause of the problem ! Thanks for any help!
