Engine Performance problem
1996 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I was replacing the engine coolant sensor and I accidentally unplugged a similar connector next to it, realized it was the wrong one and replaced it before switching out the coolant sensor. Now when I drive, every gear (its a manual) has a max speed (5mph or so for 1st gear, 15mph for 2nd, 25mph for 3rd and so on to 45mph). Once the max speed is reached, the engine bounces around, throttling up and then down with no speed increase. What is going on? Did I fry the sensor? Next to the coolant sensor? BTW, this other sensor is a long one with a hexagon sheath to unscrew it and it comes out of the engine oil fill area. Thxs alot for your help!

I think you are refering to the thermal transmitter (engine temperature sender) this just sends signals to the dashbaord temp display, and will have no effect on engine or gearbox function? Could you post a picture of the sensor?. I would have the clutch checked also?
