When the car starts in my garage, the idling seems ok for the initial few minutes. I start driving around the locality and when the car starts warming up, car idles more roughly when you stop at stoplights/stop signs, at times it appears as if it may just stop. Please advice what needs to be done. Could replacing the Fuel Filter work.

Try checking the PCV and EGR valves-F/Filter might work and so as major tune-up.
