The Choke Relay switch on my 1974 Datsun 710 doesn't seem to be functioning correctly since there is no power going to the electrical wire that heats the choke. When I open it up there is a set of points that sit on top of a coil of wire. I can adjust the points but cannot find any information or specifications on how to set them or how wide the gap should be, or if the points should be touching to begin with. When they touch then there is current in the electrical wire that heats the choke. How can I adjust this Choke Relay? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! - John

It should be touching -when it heats up for 3 minutes it will expand and separate the contacts

Thanks for your answer. By having the contacts touch, will that cause any drain on my battery or electic system?

It shouldn't create battery drain when the ignition switch is off-if in doubt check it
