Electrical problem
1990 Nissan Micra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I just bought this car from a retired mechanic who just put an engine with 40k in. The problem is, the electrical is a bit wonky. Whenever i tap the brakes, use signals, or anything to do with the electrical, the stereo will cut out then turn back on. I'm thinking its maybe a problem with the wiring. Also, the car died on me, so I bought a new battery and it was fine for about 3 days, and then died on me again. Could this be the alternator? or maybe just a wiring problem with the alternator to the battery? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated All the faults you are describing could be due to the alternator or alternator wiring .. first check all wires from battery to chassis ground/earth and engine block ground/earth are clean and secure ... check the wires to starter motor are the same ... check the wires to alternator are clean and secure and all fastened correctly .. next .. use a voltmeter across battery terminals .. you should get a reading of about 13.5 volts ..if less than 13 volts and all wires are correct replace the alternator .. hope this helps .. let me know !
