Clicking sound from lifter?

2002 NISSAN MAXIMA
114,000 MILES • 6 CYL • FWD • AUTOMATIC

How would I go about repairing this I use mobile 1 synthectic oil and have done numerous oilchanges with the clicking still persistant. had my state in spection today and they told me that it was probably the lifter just wanted to know if there is a way to repiar this with out taking it to the shop if at all possible.

Hello,

Please note that these engines will have some amount of lifter noise, you can typically hear it when the engine is running with the hood open. However excessive lifter noise can be due to worn lifters. Which not fixed can cause more issues.
As for repairs the lifters, only way can be done is to take the engine apart and replace them.
There are oil additives that exists that might make the noise less noticeable, but those are not 'fixes'.
