We recently ran into a huge pot hole and had to replace the front left strut. It turns out that not only was the strut damaged but also the axle. We have a choice of replacing the axle with a new one or having it rebuilt. I am not too comfortable with rebuilted parts on cars; I believe they will eventually cause problems and more expense. What is your opnion; should I get a new one or rebuilt?

If you stick to quality rebuilt parts you should be ok. The problem with drive axles is if you were to buy new the cost would be about $550.00. You can get a rebuilt unit from amazon for about $89.00. Re-manufactures replace the CV joint balls and worn parts with new units. Reassemble with new CV boots and you are ready to go.
