Replaced fuel pump due to fuel gauge no longer working and the fact it had sat without use for two years. Old pump was nasty and the screen was destroyed. Gauge arm was completely corroded. Car started with old pump but only when it wanted to. Also changed spark plugs and wires with a new battery/terminals/oil change prior to replacement of fuel pump. It started up and ran fine on day one. Day two it did not start right away just sputter and shut off, did that three times and started up. I made it three blocks at 25 mph and went to give it gas to go up a small hill and the RPM's got to 4,500 but mph only went to 27. Replaced pump. Now cranks no start.

When you replaced the pump did you clean the tank out? It sound like you have bad gas that is causing the issue. When the key is turned on without cranking the engine over can you hear the pump running in the tank? Here is a guide to help us.

Drained all gas and crap out 12.5 gallons worth today. Replaced pump, put in 4 gallons new gas. Turned key the pump primed. And yes it ran. Started car and got the same result as before, but this time the dash lights dimmed and the cranking slowed. Took it to auto zone battery was at 11%. I was told to get different terminals, Because the ones I have on it are loose and that can cause issues. Getting it recharged Doing new terminals tomorrow. We shall see how that goes. Can a low battery charge cause the crank but no start issues?
