New electronic ignition, coil and distributor but will not fire up

I just replaced my old ignition, coil and distributor with a new electronic ignition (Street Fire CD Ignition), coil and distributor (all electronic) but I cannot get my vehicle to fire up?

Now, I know enough about cars to figure out that it is not the fuel pump (I also replaced the old pump with a new stock one). There is just no spark being produced because when I spray Quick Start into the carburetor it will not even fire up for a second (which it should if there was any spark at all)?

The carburetor was also just rebuilt so I am ruling that out as the problem

My question to the forum is this; is the problem most likely with the way I set up the wire connections with the new electronic ignition, something wrong with the way I installed the new electronic distributor or could it be an issue with the new coil?

Thank you!

Good morning,

What year did you replace the ignition system from?

Lets start from there.

I replaced the original Mopar stock ignition system with a brand new "Street Fire CD" electronic ignition.

It is a Street Fire CD ignition with the part number 5520.

I think I may have found an issue with some of the wiring I did when installing this ignition. Using the Chrysler Installation Instructions option (top of page 8 of attached image) in paperwork that came with this ignition I see that there is a red wire that is supposed to be attached (that I did not attach) to a wire that comes "From the Original Coil Positive (+)Terminal "? I am not sure what wire this is? Can you tell me what wire they are referring to and where it is located?

It is the wire from the ignition switch that powers the ignition coil. That will provide power to the entire unit.

I hooked that red wire from the new ignition to the positive terminal wire from the old coil (that I replaced with a new electronic coil) and she fired right up!

Running better than ever now!

Thanks again Roy!
