Hello, I was told it might need the BCM replaced. I was driving and and stopped to get gas. Car wouldn't start back up nor would it shift out of the parked position. But all interior lights, windows, and radio still worked. Had it towed home. Had a guy come do a diagnostic on it. No codes popped up (no check engine light has came on either) he checked starter, was fine. Checked fuel pump with the squirt test. It was fine. I also bought a new battery. The guy also did the little fuse test where he touched the components with some tool and it made a noise. He told me the BCM fuse was getting a low voltage reading and that is when he told me I need to replace the BCM. Does this sound correct? And if so, where can I find one that is for my vehicle? Could the BCM needing to be replaced, cause my car not to start or shift out of gear?

Good morning,

Did he check the battery voltage at the battery? Low battery will cause this issue.

Did the car start when he primed it with starting fluid?

If it did, the fuel pump is not working.

Do your brake lights work when you press the pedal? I attached a wiring diagram for you. It shows a fuse I circled. Check the fuse for power on both sides.

It is possible but that is an expensive guess on your dime.

Checked battery voltage, it passed. And no car did not start after priming. It still will not even crank over unless he is touching the starter with a screw driver. And yes it is a very expensive issue that's why I want to make sure I'm not going to be going down the road unless it is indeed the problem.

Okay, did you check the fuse for power on both sides as in the diagram I attached?
