When I turn my car on, it’s like a ringing noise is coming from the engine.

Welcome to 2CarPros.
It seems to be more pronounced near the belt. Have you checked to see if the belt is tight? If the tensioner is starting to get weak, the belt could be making that noise because it's slipping a bit.

Try this and don't laugh. Start the engine and open the hood. Pour a small amount of water on the belt to see if the sound chances. If it does, then either the belt is getting loose or something is starting to freeze up and placing too much of a load on it.

Or, you can remove the belt and start the engine for only a few seconds to see if the sound is gone. If it is, spin each of the belt driven accessories and see if anything has an excessive drag.

Let me know what you find. Also, if you try the water trick, protect your eyes and clothes from water flinging off the belt while it is spinning.

Take care and I'll watch for your reply.

Joe

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. Just to jump in, has the check engine light come on posted lean codes like P0171? With the vehicle running and sound present, remove the oil cap and see if the sound goes away. If it does please get back to us.
