2005 Volvo S40 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

engine light came on yesterday and a whisling noise came from the engine. When I opened the engine oil cap on the engine, noise disappeared after a air or gas release sound however when I put the cap back on air-tight, it started making that whisling noise again and I just turned off car. I just got done an oil change less than a month ago and is this something serious? Please help! Thank you!

The oil trap box has an internal vacuum leak. Call Volvo to verify if the oil trap box is covered by the 10 year/150k mile emissions warranty. I believe you may be covered but your local dealership needs to verify it. If not then take it in to your local garage and have them replace the oil trap box with pcv hose. The parts are dealer only but the labor rate will be far less then the dealership. Good luck and keep me posted please.
