My wife drove her car home form her daughters (about 90 miles) parked in the drive on Friday. Sunday it would not start.

I have pushed it into the garage and heated it up. No good. Took off plug no 4 (middle front cylnder) it had spark and misted out moisture out of the cylnder. I took off the power coil packs and had the ing mod tested and it is fine.

A friend of mine thought the time was off but that is almost impossible. According to a local mechanic.

Another thought was the crank sensor but having spark rules that out so I am told.

The last thought was that the intake manifold has leaked and sucked up water into the manifold and is mixed in with the gas.

What do I do to find out what the problem is and how do I start the car?

When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Please run down this guide and report back.

You will love this. I had tried almost every thing you mentioned. I had spark, the fuel pump ran, had mist coming out of the cylinder after removing spark plug but just would not start. After readi

If the fuel pressure is correct and injectors are pulsing-check the valve and ignition timing could be off timing

I'd use a gage and check fuel pressure, the gas you see may be the initial prime? Is there an injector pulse, engine cranking, use noid lite? Does the starter circuit work ok?

Welcome to the forum, will it crank? Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs? Use a gage and check and check fuel pressure. Was the computer new? May need to be programmed.

Car runs perfect until it shifts into overdrive. Then will cut off and will NOT re-start unless the battery is disconnected (wiping the ECM, od course) It will cut off at 46MPH, 55. And 70MPH. We have eliminated, ECM, Fuel Pump, we have a perfectly tuned and running car here. UNTIL it goes OD! Tranny shop says its not Transmission? There are NO trouble codes present nor pending. Although, once we had a Traction Contol Code briefly. Has anyone "EVER" even heard of this?

Have a pro scan for codes if you used an autoparts scanner it will only pic up engine/trans codes. It may be an abs problemor another module screwing up.

This is from over 100 years of combined auto repair experience. From the most advanced shop in the area! The Snap-On Solius WOULD not detect anything. There are NO trouble codes pending. Just wondered if anyone had ever ran across the exact same problem? No amateurs here! LOL!

Well let's see nobody said that most people we get on here are using a autoparts scanner an dtring to get body module problems taken care of. Anyhow nobody has seen this least they aren't saying they have. However the trans fuse leads to the trans and the ignition module and to me it sounds like when the converter locks it's stalling the engine or taking power from the ignition module. Unless there is a wire that shorts when you hit those speeds.

Thats what we all were wondering.A wire that is! If its the harness, going to the scrap pile. However, we found out today that the customer drove on snow/ice and the Traction Light came on briefly. And then the car stopped and was towed to a garage. It was "fixed" there and the customer picked it up. Made it a mile from that shop. Same thing! The next step is to pull that trans. Out and put a another one in. The Traction Control Solenoid/Switch is good!

Thanks for your input. Like I said this one is a booger bear! But, this the sweetest running car you could ever want! We were hoping (praying!) Someone had this exact problem before! If anyone has, they ain't saying!

I have a 2002 Buick lesabre Limited 4 days ago I was driving on the freeway and the car just died. I got it to start but it started shaking than died again. Now it will not start at all. I took the alt and battery in to auto zone and they passed it has no previous problems. What can be the problem?

You need to check if its fuel or spark related problem-Do below

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM, Ignitor cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

I have a Buick Lesabre and when I start the car the car sounds like it is racing, like you're pushing the gas hard, but you're not. When you do push the gas the car goes off.

Sorry for the late reply.

Make sure the throttle is closed, check and clean the idle air system and throttle body. With a high idle, block off the mouth of the throttle, see if any effect on idle, it should kill the engine, if no effect, check vacuum leak/false air.

I don't know the model year, can you check for applicable trouble codes. How long since a tune-up.

I realize this is an old post. You may no longer own this vehicle. In the future, hope you don't have any vehicle issues, but, if you do, keep the site in mind. They are always working to improve the site and it's free.
