Moisture affects starting

The car is harder to start and stumbles after a moderate to heavy rainfall or fog. After the engine reaches normal operating temperature, it runs fine.

Good afternoon,

Moisture is getting on the distributor cap and wires that go to the spark plugs.

Try getting some clear spray paint and spray it on the cap and wires. It will seal the parts from moisture getting into the distributor and it not starting.

I suspected as much and would further guess either spraying it with some WD 40 once it is wet and/or replacing the cap and rotor.

Yes, that would be a better option.

No, to WD. That conducts electricity.
