I own a 1993, Mit Eclipse, 1.8L, manula transmission with 139K odometer reading. Recently I changed the timing belt, replaced the batteries, etc and now all of a sudden my engine started making a squeaking noise (like scratching metals) whenever I start it. Dosent help even if I restart it. When I start it, if I press the gas pedal, the noise increases, but after some driving, it seems to go away. I cant understand what is happening? Can anyone give me pointers as to what is happening and what can be done?

I think is your alternator belt, you might need to tighten the tensioner bolt. Its not your bearings or piston. Trust me youll know when its an internal problem that big. Try tightening the alternator tensioner bolt. The symptons that it starts and stops after you start driving for a while is because it heats up and contracts or expands
